There are many studies revealing the healing properties of LSD, MDMA, Psilocybin Mushrooms and Ayahuasca. One of my favorite books discussing the topics of these so called drugs is Food of the Gods by Terrence McKenna as he eloquently exposes the history behind the ‘drugs’ traditional usage. Slowly various studies are starting to acknowledge these recreational drugs as having health benefits.
This is why I call them medicines and not drugs as the difference lies in their use. A medicine is used consciously and the effect include healing and learning while a drug is taken unconsciously and the subject does not learn. In essence, this is the fundamental difference between contemporary medicine (aka pharmaceutical companies) and traditional medicine. This should not be confused with the importance of both practices as they serve difference purposes. A traditional practice is a preventative medicine, as it tends to be a personal spiritual healing journey, rather than a intrusive bombardment of chemicals attacking the body to eradicate the symptoms of the problem.
A conscious life style is the best medicine one could ever ingest however at times relaying on western medicine will save your life.
